Milestone session are to celebrate your baby's big developmental milestones during their first year. Common milestone ages are 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. These sessions document how much your baby is growing and changing in those fast first months. You can do one or take advantage of my "Grow with me" package and do a series of sessions throughout baby's first year- whatever is important to you.

I have a variety of adorable props and outfits available for milestone session. Just like newborn sessions, I provide everything needed for these sessions- you just need to bring you and your little one. Heirloom items are, of course, welcome to be incorporated into these sessions. You are welcome to bring your baby's outfit if you have something special- just keep comfort in mind.

Milestone sessions are primarily focused on your baby, but I do offer a family/sibling add-on option. If you'd like to do this, just let me know in advance so I can ensure we have enough time and to coordinate wardrobe looks and vibe you want to achieve.

Milestone sessions are based on colors where Birthday Smash sessions are usually based on themes.

Milestone sessions are roughly 30-45 minutes and include 2-3 setup and props. Birthday Smash sessions last longer to incorporate a non-themed portrait portion before the themed portion. For the themed setup, you will get portraits before the "smash" article comes out, then your little one will be able to get their hands dirty, and then to finish it off they get to get all cleaned up. For the clean up portion, the tub and water options will be selected when you arrive at the studio for your session.

I primarily shoot milestone session in my studio. However, I do offer on-location milestone sessions on a limited basis. Outdoor milestone sessions can be lovely and are held during golden hour (1-2 hours before sunset). In-studio milestone sessions are usually held mid-morning. All Birthday Smash sessions are held in studio (certain exceptions can be made but must be done so ahead of time)

I call it a First Birthday Smash Session because it's not just for Cake!!!! It can be fruit, spaghetti, ribs, ANYTHING (well not anything cause we do need to ensure safety).

For health, safety, and liability reasons, I do not provide the food item used for the session. Every baby has different dietary needs and possible allergies. However, if you are wanting a "cake" look but want to avoid the actual cake, I have a faux cake mold that can be used to give the illusion of a cake.

Not all children dive into a cake smash with glee- and that's okay! I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will still give the final results of the "mess" you're looking for. Bringing their favorite snacks on hand to stick into the cake can help as well. Regardless your child's comfort comes first. I let them set the pace- after all they are the boss, right?
